View Full Version : Diary Of A Camper

The idea of this post stems from not only this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diary_of_a_camper but also the unfortunate situation some server users have found themselves in (not referring to myself). Alot of servers ask their members not to 'camp' [defn. taken from article - to wait in a strategic location instead of seeking active battles], but regardless of how others feel, its a part of the game, and as the video from the Rangers clan shows, its nothing new and like it or not, its probably here to stay. My question i put forward to u is, is camping NOT a part of ANY modern war strategy? like an ambush, having key soldiers in favourable positions can help swing the tide of any battle. Why the big outrage when someone stays in one spot and snipes wid a MG? I'll also take this moment to apologize to Profaz in case he took any hurt to the term Campfaz and say i admire him cuz lemme tell ya... i tried sniping wid a SAW.. didnt work out.. at all.. got nowhere fast... it takes a lot of skill i can imagine... yet when he does his thing we all go "GRR" inside when we're picked out one by one lol thats the guys playing style

Nice intro to this topic S&P.

Indeed welcome to a higher grade of warfare. COD4 is not just a game, it's chessing.
A way to set your mind into a strategic mode on a virtual chessboard.
But it's not that simple like playing a game of chess, it's much harder.
Sometimes you find yourself chessing against 20 opponents at the same time, replying to their actions.
And is this hard? http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif No, for the human brain (the biggest computer known to men) it's a piece of cake.

In warefare and also daily life, Camping is a part of defence.
Everybody does it most of the time they are awake. You're in a passive state and checking out your surroundings.
While doing this you can act swiftly on the things which coming your way or which would effect you.
But if you're in a state of action, which you yourself decide, you're in offence mode.

Like in a game of American Football, if there is only defence (a bunch of campers on both sides), nothing would happen, cause they all wait for the others to act.
If there is only offence, there would be nobody to stop an attack.
Both examples would reside in chaos, no winners.

A good team therefore should have players who can man the offence (rushers) and the defence (campers).

So, instead of complaining about camping, rushing, noobing, etc., concentrate on what you're good at (offence or defence).
If you complain or get angry, you are not concentrated.
If you're not concentrated, you're therefore a weake link in the team and your team could lose because of this.

In no way get angry http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif . If you're angry, your brain stops thinking.
Your balls kinda take possession of your brain (all balls, no brain http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif ).

in alot of sports you dont have to defend, same as in snd when your team has the bomb.

I cant think of a single sport where defence isn't critical actually... a good offence is nothing without a defence should all fail

Tali, this not a personal attack on profaz... i read his arti about his slow graphx performance (GF8300) lol pretty funny how he mentions what he would look like moving.. I honestly think that a strategic defense in a game like COD4 is a must.. think of sabotage as a game of soccer, and the two targets the goals... it'd make sense to have a Goalie and thats my two cents

none of those 3 are sports, no ball, no sport.
swimming especially not a sport, its just a way to keep from drowning. http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Sure rage mode work, cause your body is then loaded with adrenaline. This is usualy not the problem, mostly it's a good thing.
A problem would be if ones mouth would then take over and verbal (also physical, but not the case on gameservers) abusing others is the result.
That's what all balls no brains refers to.

Man Profaz, why does everyone of your responses have to be an essay http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
Unless you're totally addicted to games, you shouldn't really get adrenaline by playing a game.
