MW2 tweaks

This is just to help you guys get a better experience with the game...

everyone knows about the config_mp.cfg file from cod4 and cod2, same goes here but with mw2 you cant add or remove anything from the file else the game wont start, you only can modify some of the values...so here goes...

your config file can be found (depends one where you install steam) :

for 64bit:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players\

for 32bit:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players\

seta monkeytoy "1" (default value is 0) doesnt work for me!!!

// Set the amount of anti-aliasing
seta r_aaSamples "16" (default value is 2)

// Enable/disable distortion from weapons, explosions etc
seta r_distortion "0" (default value is 1) heat/haze from weapons when firing :)

// Number of dynamic lights
seta r_dlightLimit "0" (default value is 4)

// Enable/disable depth of field
seta r_dof_enable "0" (default value is 1) I like mine disabled, hard to see when aiming from grass and bushes...

// Amount of ping bars shown, the more ping bars, the more precise ping will be shown
seta cg_ScoresPing_MaxBars "10" (default value is 4)

// Ping interval
seta cg_ScoresPing_Interval "20" (default is 100)
Explanation: If you have ping interval on 100 it means you have a 100 ping when you have full bars. If you have your ping interval on 20 it means you have 20 ping if you have full bars, and 20 extra ping for each bar that is gone, so if you have 6/10 bars you have a 100 ping.



You can disable the music in-game by renaming the file "mssmp3.asi" in miles folder located in the same directory as your config.

BTW snake the tweak to change your ping to numbers instead of bars doesnt work, when you close the game its gone...

I think if we all have the same cl_maxping then when we play as a group we should get better pings, not sure, should try it :)

Also Some may not need it but i find if i open task manger and then go to processes then in the list find steam.exe and right click on it go to set priority's and change it to below normal it will cut down on the processing steam uses when in game. Do not turn it down lower then that because you will start to be kicked with map rotates.

To answer yes you will Hybrid and I tested it out and we get great pings in servers when together.

lol i went in a server, we were getting lag and this clan said i hack cause i told them i edited my config to see more ping bars, so I could tell who was hosting, they said i'm a retard, i told them to go research it!

there is a way to change the bars to numbers so you ping reads like 100 instead of green bars

Step 3. You will get the numbers. This saves as far as I can tell but it will turn the graph back on if you close the game


plus the console doesnt work anymore, the game updates from steam...

Yea, but I finally got it to work. I did the same exact thing and now it works...must have been cuz i kept changing versions when I play with ppl who have lower versions. thnx 4 da help

After seeing Taliban's great post on tweaking MW2.
I set about making the MW2 Tweaker, It does everything mentioned in the thread and a little bit more.

I have to say, that the only reason I found this site was the post of Tiliban's, whilst searching for MW2 Cvars/tweaks on Google lol.
I just had to come back and thank the Author and show my appreciation.

I renamed my mssmp3.asi to mssmp3.asi.disabled

clicking apply does this

The splash screen and logo refer to .bmp files within the COD dir, they are used at start up. The splash.bmp is displayed while COD is loaded.
It has been reported to save load time (2 seconds lol) with these files disabled ;)

Well good for you! this doesn't help me now. I put MW2 on my laptop and I was trying to tone it down a little, so it might run better and smoother. I really don't play on the laptop much just once in awhile. So this link is no good anymore?

Sol you do not need the program to do it just edit the file yourself it is not hard

as for the link not sure it was not our program i was just linking to another site and as i said up top you do not need the program to open your config file and do it your self just a little more time like 2 minutes more
