Punk Buster Kick O.o

i dont know why, i havnt made any changes to my PC, i havn been playing COD4 for a while.

but for some reason i started playing and now i keep getting the message below http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif

i will try updating my PB, but its already up to date, cos iv got WAW, i have no firewalls, only windows and that is set with cod and PB a,b as exception to use the net.
i can get into servers, but only last 2-3 minutes. and some servers nothing hapens. i can play all day long.
strange!
so whats wrong?

ive looked at the FAQ at evenbalance.com and thats what i read:

Until these various packages are updated to correctly identify PnkBstrA.exe, PnkBstrB.exe, and PnkBstrK.sys as components of the PunkBuster Anti-Cheat System, players who experience PunkBuster kicks due to these conflicts need to either manually adjust the settings of the other software running on their system or disable the other software while playing on PunkBuster enabled servers. The new PunkBuster components make use of network resources and also frequently update files in the Windows system folders. This activity triggers warnings or blocks by some other security programs, some of which consider all unknown programs as threats or malware. Our new components are simply extensions of the existing PunkBuster system using new services and kernel software drivers, and are each signed with Verisign / Authenticode digital signatures for verifiable authenticity purposes. Most major security packages do not block our new components; users with other software that causes these conflicts should contact the vendor of their security package and request an update to correct this conflict.[/b]


so apparently you have a program running that blocks files of pb, firewalls and anti-virus can block them but also others, could be one of the system processes at your taskmsgr (like nod32, but i had no problems with that).

yeh i get that couple times and i reinstalled pb using the thing from the DVD then updated.

its probably your firewall or other windows protection...when your firewall is turned on it ask u should it allowed or not programs(like exe and others) maybe u mist it there...i had similiar problem with nvidia card and nvidia firewall and i know u can change ur setting as u like, theres bunch of options...the easyaest way is to reinstall your graphic card drivers lol...also reinstall your pb as tali said and check yours dx settings(run=>dxdiag)...also i use dxwebsetup to update my direct x folders its similiar program like pb setup and it really help with keeping dx updated...

Punkbuster runs as a service in windows,

if the service can&#39;t be run punkbuster cannot *handshake* with the master server.

So check that your not running any programs that will block certain services from starting up

Like peerguardian 2 etc etc ...

i was getting the update error from pb but I tried pbsetup and it said already updated so I disabled Vista UAC and it worked http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif

also sometimes i get kicked for one of the services not starting at all, so make sure both, punkbuster a and b are running.
